A spa night at home, for under $7
The best bit of a salon facial is lying back under a cool mask for 15 to 20 minutes. You can have that at home on any night of the week.

What you need
- A jelly mask (about $6.75 a go from a $54 jar)
- A towel for your pillow
- Something to listen to
- About 25 minutes when no one needs you
The order
- Set the room. Dim the lights. A warm shower first helps you switch off.
- Cleanse. Wash your face and neck, then pat dry.
- Mask. Mix and smooth on a thick layer. Rose is made for this, with a gentle rose scent while you lie back.
- Lie back for 15 to 20 minutes. Phone down. Let it set.
- Peel and finish. Peel from the jaw upward, rinse, and follow with your usual moisturiser. The used mask goes in the bin, not down the drain.
The finishing steps, and what to leave out that night, are in what to do after a face mask.
Make it a habit
Once a week is enough to look forward to. On a subscription, a jar arrives monthly, every 2 months or every 3 months, at $45 instead of $54, with free shipping.
